D.C. Workers Plead Guilty To Mortgage Fraud

WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors said two D.C. employees pleaded guilty to making false statements to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Sheila Jones, 46, and Temika Gannae Gustus, 27, both of District Heights, Md., pleaded guilty this week. Sentencing is set for Jones on Nov. 5 and for Gustus on Nov. 13.

According to court documents, the employees of the D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue each made loan applications to HUD in 2006 that listed fake second jobs and bank balances. Fake documents were also created and were included in Jones and Gustus’ loan applications, prosecutors said.
